5V5 FLAG FOOTBALL GUIDE

Print flag football wristbands and a matching call sheet

Generate wristband drawings, a coach call sheet and playbook pages from one ordered selection. Measure the usable window of your wristband first, then check a calibration print before cutting any inserts.

Measure the usable window, not the outside of the wristband

Use a ruler to measure the space where the finished insert must fit, in millimeters. Measure both width and height. Account for any sleeve seams or lip that reduce the usable opening. Do not use the overall dimensions of the fabric or the product listing as a substitute for the opening you will use.

Usable widthUsable heightSleeve edges are outside the usable insert area.
Measurement sketch only. Use your actual wristband and ruler; no brand fit is assumed.

In Print pack, enter Width (mm) and Height (mm). These values set the outside cut size of the complete insert, containing one, two or four drawings. They do not set the size of each individual play card. The tool also shows inches; one inch equals 25.4 mm.

The default 100 × 70 mm is a demonstration size, not a brand preset. If the measured opening needs a slightly smaller insert to slide in, use the intended finished insert dimensions and verify them during the trial fit.

Choose plays, paper and drawings per insert

Select the plays you want on the left of Print pack. The pack numbers follow their order in your book, rather than the order in which you check boxes. A selection of three plays will be numbered 01, 02 and 03, even if they are not adjacent in the book.

What each layout setting changes
SettingResult
1 play per insertOne drawing uses the window. Start here when the window is small or you need a larger diagram.
2 plays per insertTwo drawings sit side by side in one window.
4 plays per insertFour drawings use a two-by-two grid. Extra selected plays go onto more inserts.
CopiesRepeats the wristband inserts. It does not create another play in the book or multiply the call-sheet pages.
PaperA4 is 210 × 297 mm; Letter is 215.9 × 279.4 mm. Both use portrait orientation.

If the selected insert or card layout does not fit, the tool reports a size error. Choose fewer plays per insert, change the dimensions or select different paper. Do not solve the error by shrinking the printout: that changes the physical insert size.

Use short player labels, then check the actual print for readability. Long play names can be shortened on the wristband; full names remain on the call sheet. Keep your own call names distinguishable even when shortened.

Print the calibration page at 100% / Actual size

  1. Set the insert dimensions and paper in Print pack.
  2. Select 1. Preview calibration, then Print / Save PDF.
  3. In the browser or PDF print dialog, select the same paper and 100% / Actual size. Turn off Fit to page, shrink-to-fit or any other scaling option. Option names vary by printer.
  4. Print the calibration page. Measure both the horizontal and vertical lines; each should measure 50 mm.
  5. Measure the outside edges of the calibration rectangle against the width and height you entered.
  6. Cut a trial rectangle and check that it slides into your actual wristband opening. Adjust the intended cut size if needed, then generate and check a new calibration.

Illustration only. Measure the calibration page generated by Print pack, not this web-page sketch.

A correct-looking screen preview does not establish printed size. If you save a PDF first, check the PDF viewer's scaling when you print it later as well. Keep the calibration and the material print settings consistent.

Print one matching pack

After calibration, select 2. Preview print pack. Review the wristband inserts, the coach call sheet and the playbook drawings, then use Print / Save PDF. The material pages share one snapshot and revision marker.

Check that each number names the same play on every output. A blank slot in the last insert is expected when the selection does not fill the grid. Copies repeat the same numbered wristband set; they do not renumber the plays.

Cut along the insert's outside frame and check the first printed insert in its sleeve. Look at the labels and arrowheads under the conditions in which you will read them. If they are hard to distinguish, return to fewer plays per insert or adjust the drawing.

If you change a play, its order or the print selection, regenerate and replace the matching materials together. A previously saved PDF remains an older snapshot. Avoid combining a new call sheet with old wristbands whose numbering or drawings may differ.

Printing checks when something looks wrong

Both 50 mm lines are smaller than expected.
Check for Fit to page or shrink-to-fit in the browser, PDF viewer and printer settings. Use 100% and repeat the calibration.
Only one direction is wrong, or the rectangle still does not match.
Measure both axes and review printer settings. The page should not be stretched. Recheck the paper size and the entered dimensions before printing the materials.
The frame is clipped.
Confirm the chosen paper matches the loaded paper. If the printer cannot handle the margins, use a smaller layout or a suitable printer rather than relying on automatic scaling.
The insert fits, but the diagrams are too small.
Choose one or two plays per insert, or use a larger usable window. Check your labels and arrowheads again on paper.
The call sheet has different numbers from the wristband.
Generate both from the same selection in the same print pack. Compare their revision markers and replace the old set together.
